balloon Castle
March 5, 2013
The term kicked off with a team building activity for each block! Groups displayed great communication skills, collaboration and problem solving skills. Block 1 kicked the day off strong (picture on the right) and even though other groups surpassed them in height, the Block 1 structure was the most stable and remained standing for over 24 hours.

Graphic Learning
February 5, 2013
Graphic Learning has embarked on the novel, "Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life". In the book, Rafe is a 6th grade student trying to break every rule in the handbook. Students in class drew out a rule at Hoyt Middle School and had to illustrate their interpretation of what the rule would look like being broken.
Kaitlyn's illustrations is at the left. It looks like that locker has had too much stuff shoved into it to be very useful. Outstanding Work Kaitlyn! Keep up the AMAZING quality!
Mythology
January 14, 2013
In Mythology, students spent the semester continuing their exploration of Greek Myths. After reading "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" they then watched the movie and had to recast the characters. To the right is a snapshot of Alexis' work. Using the app, Notability, students had to import pictures of the actors/actress they would recast in leading roles and then had to write a description as to who the person was and why they would make a good Percy or Annabeth. Alexis took it to the next step in the app and added her own flair by drawing characters as well. Outstanding Work Alexis!
